Nintendos Spielehandheld 3DS ist in den USA ziemlich erfolgreich. Nintendo gab in einer Pressemitteilung bekannt, dass in den USA alleine im ersten Jahr ca. 4,5 Mio. Geräte verkauft wurden. Dies sei etwa doppelt soviel wie der originale Nintendo DS ebenfalls innerhalb eines Jahres erreicht hat.
In einer Pressemitteilung wird ein Vergleich mit dem bisher erfolgreichsten Handheld aller Zeiten - Nintendo DS - angestellt und dabei hervorgehoben, dass der 3DS wesentlich mehr verkauft hat als noch der Nintendo DS.
So habe alleine der 3DS ca. 1,2 Mrd. Dollar generiert, während NDS etwa 540 Mio. Dollar Umsatz produziert hat. Auch gehen vier Mio. verkaufte Spiele mehr auf das Konto des 3DS: So sind neun Mio. Spiele für den 3DS über die Ladentheke gegangen.
