Jedes Jahr nach der E3 vergeben unzählige Websites ihre Awards an Spiele, die besonders überzeugen konnten. Doch nur ein Award gilt als der offizielle: Der Game Critics Award.
Eine unabhängige Gruppe, welche sich aus Journalisten von 36 verschiedenen Magazinen, Websites, etc. zusammensetzt, wählt hierbei die Gewinner der jeweiligen Kategorien. Heute wurden nun die Nominierungen bekanntgegeben, die Gewinner werden am 31. Juli genannt.
