Shigeru Miyamoto von Nintendo hat gegenüber der BuisnessWeek eine wirklich pikante Information zum Besten gegeben. Der Nintendo Wii war als eine 100$ Konsole geplant. Nachdem aber immer mehr aufwendige Technologie in die Konsole eingebaut wurde, wurde auch dieser Plan verworfen. Man wollte sich nur auf das Interface der neuen Konsole konzentrieren und nicht mit teurer Hardware die Kunden locken.
Speaking in an interview with BusinessWeek.com, Miyamoto said: "My idea was to spend nothing on the console technology so all the money could be spent on improving the interface and software. If we hadn't used NAND flash memory [to store data such as games and photos] and other pricey parts, we might have succeeded."
