Die Game Developers Conference (kurz GDC) wird in diesem Jahr vom 19.-23. März erneut in San Francisco stattfinden. Dabei besprechen wieder zahlreiche Entwickler ihre Techniken, Innovationen und wie sie ihr Spiel entwickelt haben. Als Teil dessen wird 2018 auch zum 18. Mal die GDC Awards vergeben.
Am 21. März wird das Event veranstaltet. Erneut konnten zahlreiche Personen aus der Industrie ihre Spiele des Jahres nominieren, die von einer unabhängigen Jury anschließend gekrönt werden. Horizon Zero Dawn von Guerrilla Games und The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild führen die Liste diesmal mit sechs Nominierungen an.
