Die Playstation 3 kann nicht nur hübsche Grafiken auf den heimischen HD-Fernseher zaubern, sondern auch 3D. Wie Sony nun äußerte, habe 3D noch großes Potenzial und die Fähigkeit der Darstellung des dreidimensionalen Spielens sei bei der PS3 nicht mal ansatzweise ausgereizt.
Sony hat versucht schon seit Jahren, HD zu pushen, und das nicht nur mit der Konsole, sondern auch mit dem HDTV-Geschäft. Auch wenn die Adaption von 3D-Fernsehern seitens der Konsumenten etwas langsam vonstatten geht, glaubt Sony, dass Spiele nur besser werden können, je weiter sich die Technik der dreidimensionalen Darstellung weiterentwickle.
So sagte Mick Hocking von Sony, Chef der Londoner Studios des japanischen Konzerns, in einem Interview mit Industrygamers betreffend der Herausforderungen und Möglichkeiten, die HD biete, dass die Zeit für 3D noch sehr früh sei:

Wie man sieht, erkennt Hocking vor allem im Gaming eine Möglichkeit, 3D salonfähig zu machen. Resistance 3, das er als Beispiel nannte, wird also nicht nur hochaufgelöstes Spielen bieten, sondern auch Dreidimensionalität.
