Vor kurzem berichteten wir euch von der Gründung des Studios Blazing Lizard, welches aus ehemaligen Mitarbeitern von Volition Inc. (u.a. Saints Row) besteht. Das Studio konzentriert sich auf Download-Titel für Konsolen und hat heute den ersten Titel angekündigt: Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball.
In Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball können bis zu acht Spieler aus insgesamt fünf Teams wählen, darunter die Titelgebenden Piraten und Ninjas. Die letzten drei Teams sollen zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt enthüllt werden. Bei Dodgeball handelt es sich um das uns geläufige Völkerball, jedoch sind die Regeln in Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball etwas anders. So ist man nicht auf eine Seite des Spielfelds beschränkt, sondern kann sich in den 6 Arenen völlig frei bewegen. Jeder Charakter hat zudem eigene Kampfattacken und spezielle Fähigkeiten, um actionreiche Duelle zu garantieren.
Verschiedene Spielmodi dürfen dabei natürlich nicht fehlen. Zur Auswahl stehen Exhibition-, Story- und Challenge-Modi, sowie Mehrspieler-Modi für 4 (lokal), bzw. 8 (online) Spieler. Hier lässt sich nicht nur gegeneiander spielen, sondern auch zusammen im Co-op.
Erscheinen soll Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball 2008 für bisher nicht genannte Systeme.

The first game in the Pirates vs. Ninjas series allows up to 8 players to choose from 5 unique teams (Pirates, Ninjas, and three more to be unveiled later), and compete against one another in the ultimate sport of champions Dodgeball. However, this is no ordinary Dodgeball game. Teams arent restricted to one side of the court, instead they roam freely around 6 gorgeously detailed arenas. In addition, characters are equipped with combat moves and special abilities to deliver a more action-packed experience than could ever be found on the playground.
Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball is being developed using Infyrno, Blazing Lizards next-gen proprietary game engine. It allows for sweet gameplay with an art style and theme suited for all age groups. There will be Exhibition, Story, and Challenge modes and multiplayer support for 4 players Local / 8 players Online, and 4-player Co-op modes.
